London Higher are delighted to announce the success of our recent Office for Students SIHED Challenge Fund bid, and we are pleased to share our intentions for the CUREate project. This is an exciting collaborative project spearheaded by London Higher and partner London HEIs.
On the highest level, CUREate seeks to prompt conversations about what the health and creative disciplines have in common. We are doing this to challenge established notions about entry routes into health, both at an institutional and personal level, and encourage entry at a time of transformation.
To help achieve this, the project will deliver the following over the next academic year:
- A co-produced framework for engaging creative and arts students in discussions relating to the registered health professions
- A series of co-created events for arts and creative students that raise awareness of and interest in health professions, particularly those that have a postgraduate entry pathway
- A website that will share outputs from the above, alongside information and guidance on applying for university-level health courses
The delivery of CUREate will be largely based in London, but our wish is that CUREate acts as a model for outreach elsewhere. The CUREate website will give us a platform to share what we have learned and developed, and our hope is that it encourages activity at the grassroots level. Our lead partner, the University of East London, will also undertake an academic evaluation of the project and will share findings with the higher education community when the programme has concluded in 2020.
